See my guide to the best laptops for photo editing for some tips on what to look for, as well as some suggested models. Desktop computers generally are more powerful but some laptops also make good portable photo editing devices. I would definitely add that all photo editing software programs are going to work best if you have a good computer with a fast SSD drive, powerful processor, lots of RAM, and ideally a fast graphics card. With this in mind, I have tried to pick applications that have similar functionality, i.e., they let you edit and organise your photos in one application. Adobe’s Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC product performs the dual functions of photo editing and photo management, meaning you can use it to edit your photos, as well as organise them. The purpose of this guide is to try and share some of the best alternatives to Lightroom that you can buy today. Note, this list doesn’t include mobile apps, but you can see some recommendations for mobile apps in our guide to the best photo editing applications. ![]() I’ve included both paid and free products, as well as products that support both Mac and Windows computers. With all this in mind, I wanted to share some of the best alternatives to Lightroom that are available on the market today. Lightroom also has a relatively steep learning curve, and whilst it can certainly do a lot, it is missing some important features like layer support. It also requires a powerful computer, and even then Lightroom performance can be a challenge. First is the fact you have to pay a monthly or annual subscription, which definitely puts some people off. Well, there are lots of reasons folks choose not to use Lightroom. So why am I writing a post on Lightroom Alternatives? And their opinions spread to companies like Corel and others. We’re big fans of Adobe Lightroom for our photo editing and photo management tasks, and it’s definitely one of our favourite photo editing applications. Because the stereotypical Linux user doesn't know how to use a camera and is cheap bastards. Why no Google Picasa or Nik Software for Linux, that integrates with Darktable!. That Pros use!!! and native on my favorite platform Linux. Don't give a flying f.k about simple ma and pa photography apps. Linux will always fall behind the competition when it comes to professional graphic applications. Everyone else had it back in the late 90's. Corel did nothing except just purchased all rights to the product. ![]() Aftershot is only Linux compatible, because that's what the Bibble developers created. When the hell are they going to port Paintshop Pro to Linux and make a sweet combination (Aftershot and Paintshop Pro)!. 10/7/2023 0 Comments Movies like the notebookAn inspirational fantasy adventure revolving around a young man and a tiger, this movie is just as touching as Titanic even without the star-crossed romance. ![]() The movie stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, Tabu, Adil Hussain, and Gérard Depardieu in major roles. From his life as a 12-year old in India to surviving a shipwreck and being adrift on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger, Pi’s journey is thrilling and heartwarming, to say the least. Based on the eponymous novel by Yann Martel, this adventure drama revolves around an Indian teenager, Pi Patel, who narrates his life story to a biographer. Life of Pi does a great job with that aspect. Romance is not just in two people falling in love but also in the zeal for life. You might wonder why this movie is on this list. And the way this movie is made, the story, and its overall experience still hold up today. Tragic romance, young lovers, unfulfilled love, and Leonardo DiCaprio – Romeo + Juliet has a lot in common with Titanic. The movie's cast also includes Brian Dennehy, John Leguizamo, Harold Perrineau, Pete Postlethwaite, Paul Sorvino, and Diane Venora in supporting roles. Despite their family feuds, they fall in love and the rest, as we know, is history. ![]() The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the titular roles of Romeo and Juliet respectively, who are from two rival business empires of California. Instead, the endearing romance of teenage Romeo and Juliet leading to a tragic ending comes out quite incredibly. Director Baz Luhrmann not only modernized the Shakespearean icons but also revamped the premise into an edgier, quirkier, modern-day California gang rivalry. But we bet no one ever saw Romeo and Juliet the way this 1996 movie explored the iconic ill-fated lovers. William Shakespeare’s plays and stories have been adapted to the big screen a million times through generations. With an action-packed story supported by outstanding performances by the cast, this Academy Award-winning movie is the best follow-up to Titanic. The three of them go through the loss of life and love while fighting off enemies in the biggest war in human history. Set with the background of the war, the plot focuses on two friends – American pilots Rafe McCawley (Affleck) and Danny Walker (Hartnett) – who are both in love with a nurse named Evelyn Johnson (Beckinsale). ![]() The story follows fictional accounts of Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. Although it’s set on the premise of the bombing of Pearl Harbor during World War II, the heartbreaking love triangle of two pilots and a nurse was stirring enough for the fans to draw parallels with Titanic.ĭirected by Michael Bay, Pearl Harbor boasts an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Colm Feore, and Alec Baldwin, among others. After Titanic, if there was one movie that married a tragic love story with a disaster scenario, it was Pearl Harbor. There's no headphone jack on the iPhone XS Max. It's worth noting that Apple's warranty, like those of all phone manufacturers, doesn't cover 'liquid contact' damage, which means if the liquid resistance does fail on the iPhone XS Max you won't be covered. Apple claims it's tested the protection in a number of liquids, including salt water, chlorinated water, milk, wine and beer, although we wouldn't advise purposefully exposing the handset to any of these. The steel frame around the outside and the new formulation of glass on the front and rear – which is tougher than the glass on the iPhone X – give the iPhone XS Max a supremely premium look and feel, while its resistance to dust and water has also been enhanced.Īpple has upped the protection to IP68, enabling the iPhone XS Max to be submerged to a depth of up to two meters for 30 minutes without suffering any ill effects. While the iPhone XS Max does feel a little chunky in the hand there's no questioning the fact that you're getting a huge amount of display real estate crammed into a form factor which does a good job of keeping it usable. What's more impressive is that the XS Max manages to squeeze a huge 6.5-inch display into a body that's a touch shorter and narrower (at 157.5 x 77.4mm) than the iPhone 8 Plus, which only boasts a 5.5-inch display. The iPhone XS Max has a totally flat back that's a little more awkward to hold, and we found that a tactfully-placed pinkie finger on the underside of the phone was a must for one-handed use. The Samsung, Sony and OnePlus all taper their rear edges, giving the impression of a thinner device while also allowing them to sit a little better in the curvature of your hand. The reason for this is simple: tapered edges. ![]() ![]() The funny thing is though, the iPhone XS Max is thinner than all of those phones at just 7.7mm. We compared the iPhone XS Max to a number of phones during our in-depth review, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (6.4-inch screen), OnePlus 6T (6.41-inch) and Sony Xperia XZ3 (6-inch), and the iPhone felt thicker, and less planted in the hand than all of them. The result is a phone that doesn't sit as comfortably in the hand as it could, and considering the size and cost of the XS Max it's a phone you want to be able to securely hold. Pick it up, and the rounded sides of the handset make it feel noticeably thick.
10/7/2023 0 Comments Best explainer video tools 2017![]() However, to truly stand out, remember that you can also try concepts that feature client testimonials, infographics, typographic treatments, character animation or even photo-based animations (be sure to peruse Vimeo, which not only features great creative but also has fantastic search tools). The go-to creative treatment for the last few years has largely been animation. Long story short, descriptive text will be needed so viewers can easily follow along if they have the sound turned off.Īnother critical consideration is the style of video. For instance, even with the option to turn the sound on, 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound. If your video will be making the social media rounds, a key consideration will be the need for your explainer video to address the muted video implementation. Demonstrate the benefits of your offering and why your target audience will flip out over its awesomeness.įorbes Agency Council is an invitation-only community for executives in successful public relations, media strategy, creative and advertising agencies. Then quickly get to the solution and explain it in ways that address the “why” that will matter to your audience. ![]() Often what works best is to quickly state the challenge your target audience is facing (three sentences is a reasonable goal to pursue here). Stick to the inverted pyramid formula that journalists often adhere to, where the most newsworthy info is mentioned first. So prioritizing your message points is critical. Prioritize your message. Even if you develop a truly groundbreaking video with a killer creative concept and on-point messaging, there will still be (as mentioned above), significant viewer atrophy after the first 10 seconds of your video.Remember, your audience is swimming in video content all day long. The upside is that, by doing so, your message will have a much better chance of resonating with your target audience. At the end of the day, this will force you to limit the takeaways. The point of this exercise is to be as efficient as possible. So if you had 600 words to begin with, you would end up with 150 (for reference, a 60-second video is approximately 120 to 130 words and a 90-second video is approximately 180 to 190 words). Simply explained, after you’ve taken a first pass at a script for your video, remove half the words. To have your message stand out, it will need to be engaging in style and very focused.Ī good rule to follow is what I refer to as the golden rule of halves. And this is a trend that is exponentially growing, with IP video traffic representing 82% of all global consumer internet traffic by 2020. It’s important to remember that audiences are being bombarded with video content in 2017. Limit the takeaways. All too often, I see clients wanting to cram every last detail of a 25-slide presentation into a 60- to 90-second video. The “why” translates well with customers: “Why do I need this TV? Because my family will have that same amazing feeling we had in a theater!” For example, instead of talking about the resolution of your 4K TV display and its built-in surround sound speakers to potential customers, a much better approach would be to convey the great memories they’ll have with their family through an immersive theatrical experience in the cozy confines of their home. Usually, the “why” of your offering comes in the form of benefits, not product or service features. ![]() This speaks to its soul and it’s what creates an emotional connection with customers. If you want to truly capture a potential customer’s attention, you need to address why your product matters to them. All too often, the desire is to talk about product features and the granular detail that can go along with them.
